The Obudu Legislative Council has expressed dismay over the activities of hoodlums in the local government in recent times which culminated in a brutal armed robbery operation in a branch of one of the new generation banks in the town and has continued to cause worries and anxiety among residents of Obudu Metropolis and its environs.

In a resolution by the House over the activities of the yet to be unidentified armed robbers who attacked the Bank situated inside the Federal College of Education, Obudu along the boundary with Benue State on the 26th of November, 2014, the lawmakers called on the government at all levels to establish a checkpoints along major entrances into Obudu particularly the major route that lead in and out of Obudu via Tsar in Benue and the Obudu – Utuhu highway as well as the Obudu – Ogoja Road.

One of the legislators said: “The security situation in Obudu is worrisome, the incidence that happened at the bank is terrifying. The police and other security operatives could not combat the armed robbers, we cannot allow the issue of security in the hands of the Executive only”.
