In what looked like a carnival of sort, supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP today thronged the Margaret Ekpo International Airport in Calabar, to welcome the party’s governorship flag bearer in the State, Senator Ben Ayade who arrived alongside the state governor, Senator Liyel Imoke, from Lagos where President Jonathan kicked off the PDP Presidential Campaign yesterday.
Ayade was driven in a large convoy round the town down to Eleven Eleven and Millennium Park as supporters continued to show their solidarity along the streets.
In his reaction, Senator Ayade later told CrossRiverWatch exclusively that: “I will want to thank Cross Riverians for turning out in their numbers to show their support for my candidature. I am very grateful and I want to assure our people that I will not disappoint them. I will not dash their hopes and the confidence that they have reposed in me.
“I want to also appreciate Senator Liyel Imoke, a great leader who has demonstrated astute leadership not only for our state but also for our party. I want to also assure him that I will not disappoint him and Cross Riverians.”
