One of the major political support groups that have drummed support for the defunct governorship race of Prince Jedy Agba, the G18 Coalition For Jedy Agba, has adopted the Cross River PDP governorship flag bearer, Senator Ben Ayade for the February 14, 2015 governorship election.
Rising from a meeting of the Board of Trustees, Central Working Committee and Coordinators of the Coalition, wherein issues pertaining to the latest political developments in the state were deliberated, the group in a communiqué signed by its leader, Adamade Odey declared as follows:
1. The G18 remains a solid and formidable group made up of outstanding professionals and youths with a clear focus and mission to contribute to the political development and governance in Cross River State. This drive accounts for the tremendous support given by the group to Mr. Goddy Jedy Agba OFR, which resulted in the establishment of footholds in every unit, village and ward in Cross River State. G18 Coalition has therefore resolved to remain intact and indivisible as ready and willing to partner with all progressives to bring about the desired change in the state.
2. Following a recent publication by Mr. Jedy Agba that he is no longer contesting the guber elections, rather declaring support for the PDP flag bearer, Distinguished Senator Prof. Ben Ayade, we hereby declare our unalloyed approval of the decision of Jedy Agba and affirm our resolve and commitment to also support the distinguished Senator in the forthcoming guber elections. By this members of the G18 Coalition will remain a part and parcel of the PDP family and would give undivided support to the PDP.
3. That having received the full support of Jedy Agba, distinguished Senator Ayade and the state PDP are hereby encouraged in the spirit of political comradeship to reach out to the political support base of the Jedy campaign and accommodate them in the on going processes leading to the elections and subsequently. The ever ready and indomitable structure of the G18 is ready for the action ahead.
4. Finally we assure the entire state and the numerous followers of Jedy Agba and the G18 that the decision to support Prof Ayade is one that was reached to allow for a broad based development of the state by both Jedy and Ayade. We call on all Cross Riverians therefore to vote in Senator Ayade come February 14, 2015.
