The member representing the Akamkpa/Biase federal constituency of Cross River State in the House of Representatives, Hon. Daniel Asuquo has revealed that his constituency has never produced any deputy governor in the state in a democratic dispensation.
Daniel Asuquo who barred his mind to CrossRiverWatch over the weekend as he accompanied his party, the PDP’s deputy governorship candidate in the state, Prof. Evara Esu to officially seek the blessing of his people said, “This is the first time we are going to have a democratically elected deputy governor from my constituency; Akamkpa/Biase federal constituency”.
Mr. Asuquo, who is the PDP candidate for the Federal House of Representatives, Akamkpa/Biase federal constituency expressed happiness and high hopes that the development will be fruitful to his constituency and the state at large as well as build a cordial relationship between the 7 local governments that make up the southern senatorial district.
His words: “As a member of this constituency who actively took part in ensuring that this injustice is properly corrected is here today to celebrate the fact that God has answered our prayer, this is the first time in a democratic setting that we will have a deputy governor in the midst of the 5 Alive (Odukpani, Calabar South, Akpabuyo, Bakassi and Calabar Municipality), you know we have 7 LGA’s in the south and 5 are Efik speaking and the Akamkpa/Biase are more like one common people, Biase was created out of the old Akamkpa, We are now one because I believe now it’s the 7 Alive no more 5 Alive, fairness and equity have come into play.
“This marriage will surely bring continuity, development, greater harmony and most of all it will make us understand that we have one common destiny to protect, and I believe we have greater things to come from this union”.
The Honorable who is popularly known as Dansuki described Prof. Evara Esu as a “tested and trusted man”, maintaining that “We are happy that the Biase people have given us a good marketable product”.
