CRSHA Candidate Calls For Urgent Solution To Menace Of “SCOLOMBO” Boys In Calabar

Cross River House of Assembly candidate for Calabar Municipality, Hon. Edim Okon, has expressed displeasure over the increasing incident of street children in Calabar, warning that their presence poses a threat to the State’s tourism drive.

Okon, a renowned artist and youth leader who seeks to actualize his mandate on the platform of Labour Party, disclosed this during a chat with newsmen in Calabar.

While noting that he veered into politics because of his passion for service, Okon also promised to pursue legislations that will consolidate the State’s achievements in the tourism sector if elected into the assembly.

“There are some little boys called ‘Scolombo’, who are coming up as a generation of tomorrow’s armed robbers; you now find them on the streets of Calabar.

“They pose a very serious threat because they even snatch handbags; it has even gone into a level where they enter shops and lots more. They are a threat to the tourism initiative of Cross River State”, he contended

According to him, the street boys have now carved a niche for themselves, thereby raising concern among members of the society on the security of lives and property in the State.

He also stressed the need for healthy opposition in the polity, disclosing that youths empowerment; the development of art and craft would be among his priorities in office if elected.
