CrossRiverWatch has confirmed that unknown gunmen on Friday night killed the personal steward to the Cross River State Governor, Senator Liyel Imoke.
A top government house security source who spoke to CrossRiverWatch but pleaded not to be named said the Obanlikwu born steward simply named Sebastian, was trailed and gunned down in his residence at eight mile in Calabar shortly after departing the governor’s house on return from a journey to Abuja.
“We all went to Abuja together with Oga. When we returned, we were all together that evening before he left for his house at eight mile. We were all shocked to later hear that he has been assassinated by assailants in his house. Well, investigation has commenced into the killing and we are optimistic that we will track the killers. While we cannot rule out politics from his murder, we will however look at all angles to ensure we get the killers.”
The governor’s spokesman, Mr. Christian Ita was not available for comments at the time of filing this report.
