Men of the Nigerian Police, State Housing Division, Calabar on Friday 13th February, 2015 foiled an armed robbery attempt by a two man gang who allegedly broke into the shop of one Mr. Ekerette Akpan of No. 23 Ikot Effa Street Calabar Municipality at about 9pm, and made away with about half a million, buckets of paint and drinks.

This was disclosed to press men by the State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO Mr. Hogan Bassey while briefing journalists at the division.

According to him one of the robbers, (Michael) was short dead by policemen in an exchange of gun fire. He thanked Cross Riverians who tipped the Police for the useful information urging them to keep it up.

Speaking with journalists the surviving alleged robber who was identified as Okon Effiong Okon accepted braking into the property of Mr. Akpan but denied carting away half a million naira.
