CrossRiverWatch has authoritatively gathered that the Labor Party candidate for the House of Representatives for Calabar South/Akpabuyo/Bakassi Federal Constituency who was recently released by his captors was seriously brutalized by the kidnappers.

A CrossRiverWatch source who paid a visit to his Ekorinim home reports that Hon. Edem was inflicted with several injuries all over his body and that a hot laundry iron was placed on fire and then stamped all over his body by the kidnappers who desperately wanted to extract a renunciation of his political ambition.

The source said he gathered from Edem’s home that the intention of the kidnappers and their sponsors was to do away with the LP candidate if he continues to prove stubborn, holding on to his right to contest for the said position under the LP in this Saturday’s elections.

The source further explained that the kidnappers and their sponsors were forced to let go of their captive, after the youths of Akpabuyo and Bakassi had captured 70 persons and mortally wounded two and threatened to slaughter all of the persons if Hon. Edem was not released before a certain date.

Our source who could not take photographs for security reasons said the Ekorinim home of the LP candidate has become a Mecca of sort since his release on Saturday evening, just as security around the area has equally been beefed up.
