The organizer of Children’s Day Prince and Princess beauty pageantry, Queeneth Orok has disclosed that the rationale behind the project is to build children’s self esteem, discover and develop their innate abilities through pageantry entertainment.
She barred her mind in an exclusive interview with CrossRiverWatch recently as she said, “I am a lover of children: I love kids”.
Going further, she revealed that, “I have a special hair salon for just kids ‘Queenly Kiddies Makeover’ since 2011 and we have being doing well”.
According to her, the project of Children’s Day Prince and Princes which is aimed at developing the talents in children and also building their confidence came as a result of her interaction with children in her salon while they come for a hair do.
Her words: “It is from my salon during interaction with children when they come to make their hair I observed how many couldn’t interact with others which is very unlike children, shyness and others made me decided to take up this pet project to build their self confidence, esteem and discover hidden talent and develop it through pageantry entertainment and it has worked”.
The former Calabar Carnival Queen 2009 asserted that, “People have been supporting us not financially but through rendering services and providing products: I have good number of donors”.
Adding that, “In due course we will be offering complete education scholarship but because of financial constraints we are doing it by giving the winner in both male and female category prize money as follows: emerged Prince and Princes gets 500 dollars each, the second prince and princes gets 200 dollars each while the third set of prince and princes gets a hundred dollars each all as tuition fee.
Apart from that in my salon whoever wins gets a free hair do for one year any time of the day and at the prince or princess will, like last year companies gave products for the various winners”.
The Children’s Day Prince and Princes beauty pageantry according to her has come to stay, “it started last year and we are having the second edition on the 27th May, 2015 at Venetian Arena, Calabar”.
