Governor of Cross River State, Senator Liyel Imoke, has debunked news making rounds that he is nursing the ambition of becoming the National chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Imoke, who fielded questions from newsmen at the Margaret Ekpo International Airport, Calabar, on arrival from Abuja said, “Like every other person, I also read that in the media. Mind you, I have said at several fora that I will not run for any elective post.

“I do not know where that story originated from as I have never discussed it with anyone and I see it as a figment of the imagination of the writer.”

Continuing, the Cross River State Governor said: “I am not interested in any public office. I have been in public lime light for too long and I need to step aside but will remain a strong party loyalist and supporter. I do not nurse any intention to run for any public office.”

On the level of confidence he has on the national chairman of the party, Alhaji Mu’azu, Imoke expressed loyalty to the hierarchy of the party, adding that,” With the outcome of the last election, we need to rebuild the party and not let it disintegrate.”
