The Obudu Legislative Council has passed a resolution stopping the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, from distributing bills to customers in Obudu until there is an obvious improvement in their service.

This was contained in a motion moved by Hon. Frank B. Agim representing Ipong ward. Hon. Agim urged the legislative body to act promptly because the Obudu citizenry have been lamenting over payment of bills while they do not enjoy electricity.

Seconding the motion, Hon. Fidelis Opor of Ukpe decried the exploitative bills charged for service not rendered.

In a remark, the Leader of the House, Sylvester Agbabi expressed concern for the people of Obudu stating that, Obudu local government area has a lot of businesses and parastatals that depend on power but are deprived of it yet they pay very exorbitant charges.

The House consequently resolved that the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company should stop the distribution of bills forthwith and advised consumers in Obudu not to make payment to the company until their services improve.

This resolution has become necessary because according to the Leader, the House has met severally with the company which promised that there would be improvement, but this has not changed over the period.
