A commuter bus belonging a transport company Romchi had a head on collision with a truck along the Calabar – Ikom highway on Tuesday, 9th June 2015 around Ibiae palm estate close to Betem in Biase, Local Government Area of Cross River State leaving nineteen passengers dead.

The bus which was travelling to Ogoja from Calabar was said to have attempted to over take another vehicle at a bend before colliding with a speeding truck which crushed it beyond recognition.

As at the time of filing this report, the State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Hogan Bassey confirmed the number of dead casualties to be 19 while the driver and another passenger survived with serious injuries.
