Cross River Governor Orders Immediate Payment Of May Salary

Cross River State Governor, Senator Ben Ayade has ordered that the one month backlog of salary owed civil servants for the month of May be paid on or before Tuesday, June 9th, 2015.

It will be recalled that the Imoke administration owed civil servants for upward of five months but the former governor on the eve of his departure cleared the salaries up till April, 2015.

But speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Christian Ita today, Governor Ayade said the decision to clear the one month backlog of salary was in keeping with his policy of ensuring that workers are paid salaries on the 25th of every month.

Governor Ayade, who on assumption of office, had vowed to make prompt payment of workers’ salaries one of his priorities, said “a laborer deserves his wages.”
