The University of Calabar Senior Staff Association has conferred on an oil magnate, business man and politician, Prince Goddy, Jedy Agba, a Lifetime Membership Award for distinguishing himself in his chosen career and his contributions to the Church and humanitarian services.
The award which was presented to the recipient by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Professor James Epoke at the Union House along Eta Agbor Road was attended by many senior staff of the University.
The Vice Chancellor charged the recipient to continue to contribute to humanity and the academic and religious society, advising that “Society is watching every one and shall be judged as same”
Responding, the recipient of the award, Jedy Agba said the honor was a surprise to him because “I don’t stay in Calabar but this is an opportunity to say thank you and I’m so grateful.”
He said Nigeria and Cross River State is witnessing change and the change has come to visit the Senior Staff Association of the University.
”We will change this club and in the nearest future we won’t be sitting in this small place. I’m a son of teacher, I’m a teacher and teaching is not new to me because it’s flowing in my blood, therefore receiving this life time membership is like I’m been honoured in my home.” He said.
The event was attended by the President of UNICAL Senior Staff Association, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Zana Akpagu, Veteran politician, Venatius Ikem among others.
