Governor of Cross River State, Senator Ben Ayade today declared war on criminals in the state with a pledge to strengthen and empower security agencies in the state.
Ayade, who made the pledge while addressing officers and men of the state’s Quick Response Squad at its Emergency Response Center, assured that the state government would provide all the logistics needed by security agencies to provide security and ensure the state remains the safest in the country.
The Governor, who was accompanied by his deputy, Prof Ivara Esu, solicited the cooperation of service commanders in the state to ensure the state achieves its ambition of remaining the safest and most investors friendly state in the country.
“The modalities to be adopted even as we restructure our security outfit will make activities of criminals a thing of the past,” he stressed, adding, “We are also putting in place legislation where kidnappers will face death penalty because we want the state to be safe for everyone.”
He disclosed that the new security outfit, Operation Skolombo, which will soon commence operation, would rid the state of criminals, who are mostly non-indigenes of the state.
The governor, who had earlier visited the radio communication section of the outfit, was displeased with its deplorable state and assured that all the units will be reactivated to meet their functions to ensure an effective service delivery system.
