Reports reaching CrossRiverWatch indicates that an unnamed man was last weekend shot dead around the Upelwaga axis of Obudu main town for alleged robbery.
The man CrossRiverWatch gathered from sources who was dressed in black shirts and trousers, wore a sweater with a hood had a torch in his pockets and was found dead in front of Mandela hostel along Adikpo road opposite the Federal College of Education, FCE Obudu in the early hours of Friday, July 10, 2015 with no one actually certain of who killed him.
Official sources in the council who prefer anonymity say he was a criminal and investigations are ongoing with unconfirmed reports suggesting the vigilante group may have shot the man dead but are denying it for fear of being indicted and pressured unnecessarily.
CrossRiverWatch also learnt that the alleged robber was shot close to the place where a student was shot by robbers in an operation less than two months ago with about 30 bullet pellets removed from his body.
CrossRiverWatch also gathered that there is an ongoing cold war between the Police and the Vigilante group in Obudu with the police suggesting the vigilante have no right to carry any form of weaponry while the vigilante alleged that the police have compromised and have become part of those terrorizing the town.
