Night Ayade Got Stuck In Odukpani Junction Traffic

Traffic jams and rush hour to users of the only motorable road leading to Calabar the Cross River State capital is a recurring situation especially during the weekends.

Cross River State governor Benedict Ayade was yesterday July 25, 2015 a victim of these phenomenon as his convoy got stuck in traffic around the Odukpani junction for almost half an hour on his way back from Imo state where he had earlier in the day gone to bury his in-law as reported by our correspondent.

The cause of the traffic jam as at press time was unknown but sources reveal motorists were struggling tooth and nail to pass through the notoriously failed road, hours before the governor’s convoy arrived the scene, which forced his security details to jump down and trek a distance just to make room for their principal.

Though the situation was arrested less than an hour after the governor left the scene, some road users could be audibly heard asking the governor to ‘do something’ about the state of the road.

It will be recalled that Ayade disclosed on his inauguration day, plans to build a seaport and over 240 kilometres dual-carriage super-highway which is to serve as an evacuation corridor with investors tabling 500 million Euros to finance what has been tagged the signature projects of the Ayade administration, which has raised hopes that better days are just ahead.
