Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration (DVCA), of the University of Calabar, Professor Zana Akpagu, has commended the state Governor, Senator Ben Ayade, for the pragmatic steps he has taken in initiating the various programs that will reposition Cross River.
The DVCA who gave the commendation recently while speaking to some media men in his office said that the governor’s two signature projects, the super dual carriage highway from Calabar through Ikom, Ogoja and Obudu and the Calabar deep seaport are not only going to create enormous employment opportunities, but will further boost the state’s tourism frontiers and impact positively on Nigeria’s economy.
He also lauded the governor for working assiduously to engage the youths, particularly young women and girls in the garment factory which he plans to commission during his first 100 days in office.
Professor Akpagu further explained that the governor’s policy of paying civil and public servants in the state on the 25th of every month is not only novel but will afford the workers opportunity to plan for the wellbeing of their immediate and extended families.
He urged Cross Riverians to give maximum cooperation and support to the leadership of Ayade and Ivara Esu to enable them implement their visionary programs for the state and advised all those who engage in “divisive tendencies and unnecessary litigation” to sheath their swords, as they constitute a distraction, stressing that “majority of Cross Riverians are already in love with the erudite professor’s programs.”
