Cross River Government Urge Oil Firms In The State To Obey Local Content Law, Pay Royalties

The Cross River State government is set to shore up its economy as operators of oil and gas industries in the state have been urged to infuse local content in their activities and pay the required dividends to the state.

The Special Assistant to Governor Benedict Ayade on Petroleum and Local Content, Mr. Anthony Imoh made this call when he met with oil firm operators in the state where royalties and local content as well as their operations were in focus.

Imoh said there is need for them to fully implement the local content law as stipulated, describing it as the only way for Cross River State to enjoy limitless inflow of internally generated revenue from activities of petroleum sector operators in the state.

In an interview with CrossRiverWatch, Imoh said it was erroneous for anyone to describe the state as a non oil producing state as there were enough activities going on to prove such notions wrong.

“Cross River State is an Oil Producing State; the state has oil deposits which are in commercial quantity as discovered from research. SINOPEC and one other companies just concluded seismic survey in the State and may soon begin exploration. Ashore, there are two rigs operated by Addax which are OML 114 and OML 123”.
