Some parts of the Calabar International Conference Center (CICC) located at the newly created Summit Hills is currently been threatened by erosion with deep craters slowly opening up around the completed and uncompleted axis of the edifice.
The drainage constructed to drain water from the car park adjoining the center was stopped halfway and has now opened up a deep crater which now poses a threat to vehicles trying to navigate to the entrance of the conference center as low vehicles either get stuck or the underlying framework scratching the bare earth while larger vehicles go through it like a large pothole that cuts across the road.
Another gully is emerging in the front of the entrance and exit doors of the conference center as an underground drainage system terminated a few meters away from the elevated concrete wall has seen a section of the concrete washed away.
It will be recalled that terminating drainages prematurely has been described by many residents in Calabar as the major cause of gully erosion as earlier reported by CrossRiverWatch.
