Students from Central senatorial district of Cross River State in tertiary institutions across the country have charged to be good ambassadors of the district by living exemplary lives.
Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. John Gaul Lebo gave the charge recently when the Executive members of the Central Students Association (CENSSA) worldwide paid a courtesy call at his office.
Lebo who advised the students to be studious, abhor cultism and other social vices also reminded them that the future belongs to only the student who studies hard enough to distinguish oneself academically, morally and socially.
He further told the students to eschew ostentatious lifestyle which according to him could either ruin their future or plunge them into avoidable crisis, adding that personal development should be paramount in all they do.
“The future is yours for the taking, but before then you must be able to draw a line between campus ephemeral lifestyle and knowledge acquisition” the Speaker said.
Speaking earlier, the President of the Central Senatorial District Students Association (CENSSA) worldwide, Mr. Justice Obono eulogized the Speaker for his passion for youths and students, saying that Hon. Lebo was a worthy role model for any focused youth who desire to stand out of the crowd.
He recalled that Mr. Speaker in his first term as member representing Abi state constituency was the first to pay constituency allowance across the wards in Abi and awarded scholarship to more than 50 students in tertiary institutions as well as empowered many Abi youths through the CBN Enterprise Development Center.
He assured the Speaker of the support of CENSSA, stressing that the association would not betray the confidence reposed on it.
High point of the visit was the presentation of an Award of Excellence to the Speaker in recognition of his outstanding leadership roles and mentorship.
