The Special Assistant (SA) to Cross River State Governor, Senator Ben Ayade on Events and Marketing, Mr. Samuel Bassey has debunked rumors that the 2015 Calabar Carnival might not take place within the stipulated time.

Bassey, who spoke to our reporter via telephone, said that this year’s carnival is going to be an exceptional fiesta compared to the past ones

This is following recent claims that have gone viral in Calabar, the state capital that the state governor has decided to cancel the event to attend to other burning issues that affect the citizenry, especially, the construction of the 240km super highway from Calabar to Obudu.

He said activities have been lined up to add color and also attract tourists to this year’s carnival.

“The 2015 Calabar Carnival would hold, it will commence in November and I assure fun seekers and tourists from all over the world that this year’s event is going to be the best because there are so many activities that have been lined up to add color to the event, for those who have never been to Calabar, this is the best time to come and enjoy yourself,” he said

The Calabar Carnival is a yearly fiesta that was introduced in 2007 by former governor of the state, Donald Duke. It has grown to become Africa’s biggest street party and holds from November 29 to December 31 every year.
