National Orientation Agency Ends Ordinance Day In Calabar

The National Orientation Agency (NOA), Cross River State branch has observed her fourth edition of its National Ordinance day in Calabar.

The ordinance day which is celebrated every 16th day of September nation-wide is aimed at resurrecting the consciousness of Nigerians to the correct features of the Nigeria National Symbols (NSS).

These symbols include the Nigeria Flag, National Anthem, National Pledge, National Coat of Arms, Constitution, Currency, International Passport and National Identity Card.

Speaking, the State Director General, Mrs. Florence Osang said the ultimate goal of the National Ordinance day is to promote and standardize the correct shape, colors and use of these National symbols.

She averred that the importance of the day cannot be over emphasized because all and sundry owes Nigeria the duty of knowing the National Symbols, what they signify and respect them.

Also, the Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ignatius Elemi, while speaking, said that everyone is expected to show love and respect for the National symbols.

He further maintained that it was obvious that some agency’s flags in that state have faded and are still in use which he described as an eyesore, assuring that they will draw out measures to correct that.

The sensitization campaign was done by embarking on a 10 kilometer walk which began from Watt market roundabout to Eleven-Eleven down to the State Secretariat terminating at the Federal Secretariat.
