According to information from the villagers, the accident occurred on Sunday at about 9am in Iwuru village, Biase LGA. A trailer carrying wood, coming from the Ikom axis and heading towards Calabar lost balance at the market and somersaulted, taking up the space on the road which caused another trailer that followed after to somersault also, due to the sloppy nature of the road filled with numerous gallops.

This morning the wood from the fallen trailer was offloaded into another vehicle but the trailer has not been removed from the position.

The two fallen vehicles lay in two opposite sides with no space for vehicles to freely pass through. This occurrence has prevented free traveling of vehicles at Iwuru. The only option to link to the next free road from the point of incidence is to take through a path road inside the village of Iwuru.

One of the drivers who nearly fought with our reporter for coming to take pictures of the scene, lamented in anger that our reporter was doing that so that he will extort money from them “just like some police men did” in the name of security fee.

According to our reporter, much anger raged in his tone as he spoke to us, because they paid huge amount of money to young men who were going to help them in offloading the goods.
