We Will Organize Aptitude Test For Prospective Commissioners – John Gaul, Cross River Assembly Speaker

As the tussle for who becomes Commissioner in the various Ministries of the State heats up, the Speaker, Cross River State House of Assembly, CRSHA, Hon. John Gaul Lebo has said that those that will be sent to the House will undergo an aptitude test organized by the Assembly as part of the process to ensure that those who will emerge will be sound and able to lead.

The Speaker said this while playing host to a delegation from the State wing of National Association of Parent Teachers Association (NAPTAN) in his office.

He also revealed that a bill that drastically addresses the dwindling educational fortune of the state is underway.

The bill ‘Educational Regulatory Agency Bill’ which will put in place a strong regulatory framework to tackle the intractable challenges bedevilling the Cross River education sector will also help to improve the quality of learning in schools.

Earlier, the Chairman of NAPTAN Cross River State chapter, Chief Boniface Odey lamented that deplorable infrastructure, delayed salaries and paucity of teachers as the top issues affecting the Association.

Chief Odey said that NECO examination should be made compulsory for every student while appealing that a professional teacher be appointed the Commissioner for Education for effective policy formulation, implementation and supervision.
