Member representing Obudu state constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. Stephen Ukpukpen has lauded the vision of the state governor, Sen. Ben Ayade to make the state an industrial hub.

The lawmaker who was reacting to the Asia tour by the governor to woo investors to the state said that the commitment of the governor to create alternative source of revenue generation for the state is commendable especially at a time the country is facing economic recession.

Hon. Ukpukpen also called on his constituents to key into the vision of the governor stating that at this critical time of the state’s economy, the government needs the support of every stakeholder to move the state forward.

He explain that to rid Nigeria of the current economic woes, other state governors must take a leap from Ayade by looking for alternative measures of revenue for their respective states rather than depending solely on allocation from the federal coffers.

While commending the Ayade’s administration for prompt payment of workers salaries, he urged workers in the state to be creative by devising other sources of income which would serve as a support base to their salaries.

Ukpukpen who is the first legislator from his constituency to get a second term in the current democratic dispensation assured his constituents and the general public that the State Assembly is committed to passing legislations that would better the welfare of Cross Riverians.

“I want to commend the commitment and vision of our governor to make the state a haven for investors in Nigeria.

For the past few days or so the governor has been out of the state negotiating other viable means of revenue generation by wooing investors to the state. This is a positive development because it is coming at a time when the world is experiencing global economic recession.

“I want to call on my constituents to support this vision as well as charge other states to follow the example of governor Ayade by devising other sources of revenue generation for their respective states rather than depending solely on what comes from the federal coffers”, he said.
