The Cross River state government has announced the temporal suspension of the Children Carnival which usually precedes the main Festival.
The decision to suspend the children carnival was disclosed by the Special Adviser, Governor’s Office and Event Management, Mr. Ken Aklah yesterday in Calabar in a meeting with journalists to brief the Press on the progress of preparations and to reassure the public that the main fiesta will hold as scheduled.
Aklah, who said the government has plans already to introduce fresh innovations into this years’ carnival, also hinted that American pop singer, Rihana will also grace this years’ event along with several Nigerian and international A’ list artists.
This years’ carnival is deliberately themed “Green Carnival” to promote Climate Change and Global Warming and Rihana will be entertaining her fans at the Carnival After Party on December 27th at the UJ Esuene Stadium in Calabar.
The 32 day street party which begins from November 30 to December 31 is also expected to draw stars like Raskimono, KC, Omawumi, Dare Art Alade, Banky W, MC Galaxy, Duncan Mighty, Burna Boy, Timaya, Sheyi Shey, Mafikizolo, Sean Paul, 2Face, PSquare, D’banj, Iyanya, Timidakolo, Flavour, and the Mavin group among others.
