The new Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Professor Zana Itiunbe Akpagu has said that his administration as the VC of UNICAL will be fully committed towards an aggressive pursuit of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for the University.
Professor Akpagu who stated this during his formal inauguration by Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, as the 10th Vice Chancellor of the University, on Tuesday in Calabar, stated that an aggressive pursuit of increased IGR will be an impetus to his administration dream of building a virile human resource in the University.
According to him, in order to actualize his administration’s plan to develop the institution’s human resource, there will henceforth be an aggressive Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) drive in the school.
He thumps up the Pro-Chancellor, Chief Dr. Emmanuel Iwuanyawu’s sterling qualities and immense capacity for leading and building human and natural resources, and applauded the UNICAL Governing Council Chairman who he said God used to help him actualize his dream of becoming the VC of the University.
“Your achievements are very feasible. You have made giant strides in all spheres.
I can see the massive infrastructural expansion; I can see the Dean of Education smiling. You have also made giant strides in restoring academic excellence in this institution. I must say that I am justifiably proud to be part of that achievement.
Continuing he stated that …” all these would not have been possible without the supervision and the cooperation of the governing council. We are so blessed to have a governing council that has insisted on quality. Of course, it’s under the able leadership of one Nigerian of great repute; Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu. He is also an alumnus, and he has ended up been our Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of council and of course, on a very personal note, God used him to make me VC.”
56 years old, and the immediate past Vice Chancellor, Administration of the University, Akpagu has already extended his hand of fellowship to all those who contested for the coveted VC position with him, while expressing the determination of his administration to ensure all-round development in the school.
