Caroline Tochukwu Nwosu, a serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Bakassi local government area has flagged off a three weeks free skills acquisition training for Bakassi youths.

The training according to her will be intensive and is part of her personal contribution to the growth and development of her host community.

While speaking with our reporter, Caroline maintained that the program targets only Bakassi young people because of the challenges they face.

Her words: “Bakassi young people face unique challenges. They are rich in resources but poverty envelops them. They are not exposed to quality education and have high number of unskilled youth which necessitated this program”.

Though she lamented that getting funding for the projects is still a challenge, she vowed not to relent her efforts in ensuring she makes a remarkable impact in the lives of the youths in the community.

The training includes leadership, entrepreneurship, citizenship education, baking, catering, Ankara designing, hair dressing, barbing, beads making, hat making and interior decoration.

The free skills acquisition training is taking place at two centers, Ikang Town Hall and Ekpri Ikang Primary School.

It started on Sunday 25th January, 2016 with a leadership and entrepreneurship training followed by paint production and Ankara designing and will end on Sunday 8th February, 2016.
