Cross River Mainstream Launched In Ikom

Jorany Hotel Resort, venue of inaugural meeting of Cross River Mainstream (CRMs) was a beehive of activities as the socio-political and economic organization was lunched to the glory of God and humanity.

Chairman of the organisation, Mr Effimi Odo in his opening remarks emphasised the need for unity amongst Cross Riverians in general and members of the organization in particular in achieving her objectives of economic empowerment, social inclusion, and political correctness.

In his words; “The development of society cannot be left in the hands of government alone, hence, the need for individual/group contribution to the development of society. Society always makes progress when individuals come together to further the course of mankind”, he said.

He outlined the objectives and goals of the organization which are to provide a platform that will foster development and progress among members, our society and state.

To provide a framework that will identify individuals that will be prepared for leadership, that is serve as a clearing house for future leaders. To provide support for talented and intelligent Cross Riverians in terms of educational opportunities, scholarships and employment.

To provide a platform for economic empowerment and business opportunities. To increase our political and economic space in the Nigeria federation. And lastly, to provide a conducive networking platform for social interaction.

Earlier, members engaged in a solidarity walk and awareness creation rally in line with activities slated for the event proper at Jorany Resorts.

Former Chairman of Ikom Local Government, Barr. Ndoma Egodo eulogized Mr. Effimi Odo and his friends for the ideals and objectives of Cross River Mainstream, while former Vice Chairman, Hon Asinya Ntan cautioned members of the organization against being misunderstood by politicians and other interest groups.

He however, lauded the age limit of those behind the organization and asked for unity of purpose.

Hon Gab Oji, Commissioner for Water Resources, praised the idea but noted the need for gender inclusion since the founders of the organization were basically dominated by the male gender. He nevertheless, threw his support behind the organization and wished them well.

Members present at the inauguration and launch of Cross River Mainstream were; Ayang Azom Ayang, Edward Rockwell, Agbor Ogar, Agbor Ekok, Ojong Bassey, Ben Tawo, Emmanuel Ogbe, Randy Ntui, Ogar Ajom among others.
