SA On Community And Primary Health Flags Off Measles Campaign In Calabar

The Special Adviser to governor Ayade on Community and Primary Health, Dr. Betta Edu recently flagged off the Measles immunization campaign for Calabar South Local Government Area at the Methodist Church Primary School ground in Atamunu.

Speaking at the occasion, she said the exercise which will last for five days, ending February 1st, must reach out to all children from 9 months to 59 months with the measles vaccines.

She encouraged parents, care-givers and guardians to take their children to health facilities (fixed posts), and other selected places (temporary fixed posts) like town halls, schools, churches, traditional rulers houses and spacious compounds etc for vaccination.

She disclosed that after vaccination, every child will be given a card and their left finger thumb marked to avoid multiple immunization.

She also informed them about the release of counterpart funding by State Government for the Measles campaign, assuring them of more support from the State Governor Senator Ben Ayade.

Dr. Edu expressed delight with Ms. Majorie Asuquo, the Chairman of Calabar South LGA, describing her as a courageous and outstanding woman in the state. She commended her for her support and zeal to eliminate Measles from the Local Government.

Mrs Joy Chabo, State Facilitator for Measles campaign in Calabar South LGA, in her remarks thanked the S.A for her presence in the flag-off irrespective of getting the invitation at short notice.

She praised the S.A for her passionate desire to deliver quality health care services to the people and lauded governor Ayade’s resolve to revamp the health sector.

Present at the flag-off was the LGA Chairman, Hon. Mrs Majorie Asuquo, Vice Chairman, Calabar South LGA Council Secretary, Ward Councillors and a team of partners from W.H.O. UNICEF and the E.U.
