The management of Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH) has denied the alleged hike in the school fees of its newly admitted students describing it as “a general mistake in the fee payment template.”
The varsity’s management in a statement emanating from the office of the Dean, students affairs, Professor David Effiom stated that the alleged fee hike is a mistake from the school’s Management Information System (MIS) unit which handles the institution’s ‘eduportal’.
The statement read “There is no increase in fees. What appears as increase is a general mistake in the fee payment template, where non-indigene fee template is being applied to indigene students.
“All affected students are therefore advised to go to the MIS Unit for correction of their templates.”
Findings by CrossRiverWatch reveal that the atmosphere in the institution was tense prior to this as new students complained bitterly about the addition of 10,000 Naira in their fees.
However, the tense atmosphere is yet to be doused as there are whispers of a protest against the hike in hostel accommodation charges from a little above 10,000 Naira to 25,000 Naira.
