Inspector General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase and his Directorate of State Security Service counterpart, Alhaji Lawal Daura have been alerted to alleged blackmail and threats to the life of former Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation group general manager, Prince Goddy Jedy-Agba and his wife, Mrs. Beatrice Jedy-Agba by the Cross River State Government and its agents.

In separate petitions signed by Mrs. Justina Obono-Obla of Obono, Obono & Associates to both Arase and Daura, Obono-Obla explained that since the defection of Jedy-Agba, an erstwhile frontline governorship aspirant in Cross River State, from the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressive Congress (APC), ‘he has continually been subjected to campaigns of calumny, blackmail, intimidation and character assassination by the Cross River State Government and its agents.’

Obono-Obla stressed that ‘for having the audacity to defect to the APC, the state government mobilized its resources and has been sponsoring negative publications on both the social and online media to smear and tarnish the image of Jedy-Agba, his wife and family on account of an equally spurious petition from the self-styled faceless group called the South-South Coalition for Change.’

She alleged that ‘apart from the spurious petitions, some of these agents of the state government have been sending messages threatening the lives of Jedy-Agba and family including blackmailing him with threats of filing petitions to the EFCC and ICPC, IGP and President Muhammadu Buhari on our client’s career at the NNPC.’

Obono-Obla said it was worth mentioning that Jedy-Agba was constantly being harassed with calls and text messages from the owner of mobile phone number 09085944279 threatening to expose Jedy-Agba to security agencies.

While calling for an investigation to unravel the identity of the owner of the mobile number, Obono-Obla said Jedy-Agba was sent an SMS accusing him that ‘You gave Vena money to circulate a video on Television on Ayade’s campaign against Buhari. We too will be on national dailies on your activities and in open letters to EFCC and Buhari in the newspapers. Vena is on Facebook everyday insulting the Governor under your instructions.’
