Finalists of last season’s Nigerian Federation Cup, Lobi Stars of Benue State were Thursday at the U.J. Esuene Stadium Calabar, kicked out of this year’s tournament by FC Ifeanyi Ubah United by a lone strike from former Kano Pillars striker, Kofamata Bello.

The Ortom boys from Markurdi who were hoping to improve on last year’s outing had their hope dashed when 53 minutes into the match, they were made to pay for their shaky defense when Maduabuchi Okereke dribbled past two Lobi defenders and laid the ball to Kofamata Bello to score with his first touch of the match and his second goal of this season.

In a post match interview, Chairman of FC Ifeanyi Ubah United, Chukwumah Ubah said he was happy with the team’s performance and that the club is not treating the competition with kid gloves as it is one of the gateway towards continental football.

Ubah added that his focus and that of the team has moved to the Nigerian Premier League where the team is still hoping to finish high.
