Calabar, the Cross River State capital since Tuesday has seen a surge in the activities of waste evacuation staff following information that the governor, Ben Ayade will arrive the city today.
Prior to this, the pace of waste evacuation had picked up of recent but not to the level expected at the peak of the “Clean and Green” days of the city with several collection bins in some interior locations left to almost block the roads before they were evacuated.
However, following an announcement by the state government in the state owned Cross River Broadcasting Corporation television and radio stations that governor Ayade will be arriving the state almost a month after he had left and will inspect upon his arrival, waste collection points to ascertain whether the contractors were promptly evacuating waste, several of the cleaners returned to the streets.
The fear of losing out may have inspired the said contractors to evacuate waste as our reporters say a drive round town saw a much cleaner Calabar than of recent with waste evacuation in top gear.
CrossRiverWatch gathered that information has been received by the governor’s security detail and the government house press corps as well as top government officials and heads of MDAs to be at the airport to receive the governor on arrival this morning.
