Obudu: Over two dozen torch lights were donated to the Vigilante in Obudu local government area by the chapter Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria last week in what he says is a bid to improve on the security situation.

Accompanied by Emmanuel Akwagiobe who is the Community Relations Officer to Cross River Governor, Benedict Ayade, the Bedia native added that it was a measure of encouragement and an awareness call for the security officials and Obudu indigenes to be vigilant.

A leader of the Vigilante group who spoke on condition of anonymity commended the effort and pledged that they will come up with a “proper and lasting solution” to deal with the challenge of insecurity.

Also, the vigilante leader complained of his colleagues being intimidated by some people who dropped names that they were on sponsorship by gangsta groups which Akwagiobe reaffirmed the commitment of government to end such gangstas activities.

Earlier, Akwagiobe in his remarks lauded the effort of the youth council and the vigilante for fighting to keep peace within the community.
