The Commissioner for Information Communication and Technology (ICT) in Cross River State, Chief Offu Aya says his ministry is yet to generate a dime in the budget year 2016 under review despite projecting a paltry 6 million Naira as revenue target.

Aya stated this on the floor of the Cross River State House of Assembly in a hearing organized by it’s Committee on Budget and Appropriation, where he pointed out that some challenges made it impossible to generate anything.

The Commissioner listed some of the things that would have brought in revenue to his ministry to include the Smart city project and the incubation center and attributed lack of staff training as some of the challenges facing the revenue drive of the ministry.

According to him; “staff under the ministry of ICT have not been trained for six years now.”

The Speaker, Hon. John Lebo pleaded with the committee headed by Hon. Eteng Williams representing Yakurr 2 constituency to allow the commissioner go back and work with the agencies under his ministry and present their defense as a team.

The speaker further advised the commissioner to prove his leadership and stamp his authority by bringing the agencies under him to the public hearing as their achievements no matter how big or small are his.
