Sources in Government House Calabar have confirmed to CrossRiverWatch that the governor, Senator Ben Ayade will today, Friday, present the 2017 appropriation bill to the House of Assembly.
This comes on the heels of a revised 2016 budget which was unceremoniously tabled to the Assembly.
Text messages were sent to “the necessary quarters” directing principal aides and others to assemble at the office earlier than 8:00 AM with insinuations the governor might travel later in the morning after the budget presentation.
He had toured the Garment Factory and Thai Africa Rice City Project Thursday evening alongside the Speaker, Honorable John Lebo, holding private discussions intermittently.
Ayade had presented budget estimates of 350 billion Naira to be spent in 2016 which was passed and assented to.
Findings have revealed the budget may have under-performed as some MDA’s are yet to generate a dime with imprest not paid regularly for ministries and only twice for some Departments and other Agencies, Boards and Commissions.
