The Cross River State Governor, Senator Ben Ayade has thumbed up Lady Bernadette Emmah Ebri as she turns 80.
Lady Bernadette Emmah Ebri, mother of Chief Clement Ebri, former Governor of the State was described as a good woman by Ayade as he urged all to learn from her.
The Governor who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Tina Agbor prayed for more grease to the family’s elbow to continue with the virtues of the matriarch lived a and exemplary and meaningful life.
On his part, the Chairman of the occasion Chief Rufas Adah George, former Governor of Rivers State commended Mary Slessor for stopping the killing of twins stating that else “Mma who is a twin would not have been here”.
Concluding he said, “I encourage everyone to emulate the qualities of mama as a kind woman. She is not only Mma Mkpani but she is also one of the mother of Cross River State who is still alive, glory be to God”.
Also speaking at the occasion, the NDDC Board Chairman, Senator Victor Ndom Egba said Mma Mkpani as she is fondly called is a mother to all whose life style is worthy of emulation.
As part of the celebration, the celebrant was conferred with a chieftaincy title (Mma Onong Okolo 1 of mkpani) by the Obol Lopon of Mkpani, Obol Sunday Obono Okoi.
In a vote of thanks, Chief Clement David Ebri, son to the celebrant and former Governor of the State said, “Mma has done so well to keep us together. This family is strongly bind together. I am brought up in a home which is equity and honesty driven. our family is a circle of strength and love. With every birth and every union the circle grows. I wish you all journey mercies back to your destination”.
Lady Bernadette Emmah Ebri was born in old Calabar on November 11, 1936, attended Cornelia Connelly College (CCC) in Uyo, after her graduation, she attended the Teachers Training College (TTC) in Ifuho where she began her career as a teacher.
