CrossRiverWatch has confirmed that the almost 50 2014 model Kia Rio vehicles as well as the Isuzu trucks purchased by the Cross River State Government are to be distributed to security agencies and the green police.

The vehicles currently parked in the premises of Government House Calabar are currently been crested by contractors.

The vehicles are to be used by the Department of Homeland Safety and Security (HLS) and the Green Police with some officials questioning the idea behind giving the green police such vehicles.

“It looks like the green police in the urban centers will be the ones using this Kia. You know Oga (Governor Ben Ayade) likes class and probably the other trucks will be used by those going into the forests because this one (Kia Rio) cannot enter there” said a source who spoke on condition of anonymity.

As earlier reported by CrossRiverWatch, the state government had purchased almost fifty vehicles comprising of about 30 Kia Rio and about 25 Isuzu trucks which have been mounted with amber warning lights and fitted with communication gear and sirens.

Another batch of Kia Rio vehicles arrived recently with speculations they might also be for security and some appointees.
