Despite the ban on the use of motorcycles in Calabar metropolis, the capital city of Cross River State, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress Prince (APC) Jedy Agba recently distributed 64 motorcycles to ward chairmen in the southern senatorial district.
This follows a similar distribution spree in the northern and central senatorial districts which began in Obudu back in September during the New Yam Festival.
CrossRiverWatch gathered that the event which took place at the APC state secretariat along Marian road was attended by top party functionaries including the National Vice Chairman (South South) of the party, Hilliard Ettah who commended Agba for his efforts in strengthening the party machinery at the grassroots.
It is unclear how ward chairmen in Calabar Municipal, Calabar South, and some parts of Odukpani and Akpabuyo local government areas will utilize the bikes following a ban on the use of motorcycles which has been in place, effectively in the metropolis for more than 6 years.
