A maid working for a senior lecturer at the Federal College of Education, Obudu, Cross River State has been seriously brutalized by the wife of the lecturer and the little girl is presently receiving treatment at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Obudu.

CrossRiverWatch gathered that on the night of 10th October, 2016, Mrs. Ijeoma Oha, the wife of the Head of Igbo Language Department at the FCE Obudu, Dr. Amaechi Oha, allegedly accused the maid of a misdemeanor at home earlier in the day and beat her up with a kitchen knife and other objects until she inflicted wounds all over her back.

Our correspondent say the maid was saved only when members of the vigilante group keeping watch over the town were on their routine night patrol and heard the distressed voice of the girl while she was crying.

The vigilante members intervened and rescued the child who some neighbors confirmed has been under constant brutal abuse my Mrs. Oha since her arrival in their home.

The Police later arrested Mrs. Oha who has since been released on bail.

The DPO Obudu Division, DSP Obeten did not take calls to his phone but some residents are accusing the police of compromise.

Some of them who spoke to CrossRiverWatch say Mrs. Oha is a serial abuser and should be punished.
