The Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, CRSPHCDA will receive a total number of 95 volunteers from Federal Government graduate trainee program “N-POWER” from a total number of 417 enrolled for the health sector in the state.
The Coordinator of the Scheme in Cross River, Hon. Nkoyo Toyo who doubles as Special Advisor to the Governor on SDGs disclosed this during her public awareness visit to the two days stakeholders meeting for one PHC per ward policy and Immunization Services in Cross River State.
Speaking, Mrs Toyo said a total number of 4,535 graduates have been shortlisted for Cross River from 17,000 people that applied.
According to her selection was not based on State of Origin or place of origin but place of residence.
She said in Cross River State 417 graduates were selected for NPOWER HEALTH. This numbers will be posted to Primary Healthcare facilities, AYADECARE and Ministry of Health for Primary place of Assignment and other relevant health institutions across the 18 LGAs.
The beneficiaries of the scheme will be paid 30,000 Naira monthly stipends. She urged the Agency to receive these volunteers when posted to healthcare centers in Cross River.
Also Speaking, S.A Insurance to the governor, Mr Iyiala said the the Npower health volunteers that will be posted to AYADECARE will help drive the health insurance scheme to a great success.
He acknowledged the effort of the Governor and his passion for the scheme. He said the Governor requested for some volunteers to steer up the process.
The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Inyang Asibong while responding lauded the effort of the government for providing addiditonal manpower for the sector and maintained that the new work force will largely bring some relief and improve service delivery in the sector in the state particularly now that the state in dire shortage of manpower in the health sector.
The DG, of the Primary Health Agency, Dr Betta Edu described the disclosure as “good news for the Agency at a time we are looking for more human resource.”
She said this will also help in boosting the One PHC per ward policy in terms of filling human resource gaps. She encourage the health workers to always be alert to follow up on various Federal Government schemes that can add value to their dependents and their community.
She further solicited for more slots for the state in the second phase of shortlisting of applicants which is coming soon while thanking President Muhammadu Buhari for keeping to this campaign promise to engage 500,000 graduates for the next fours years.
