Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha has called on Nigerians to desist from hating their fellow countrymen especially the leaders as it is a means that will open the country up for greatness.

Okorocha stated this over the weekend while in Calabar for an event to celebrate the Minister for Niger Delta affairs; Usani Usani where he pointed out that the hatred fro one another has also contributed to the poverty been experienced in the land.

“There is so much hate in the land. We must begin to shun hatred in our land. This is what will open our nation for greatness.

“Our people are quick at hating their leaders. Our people speak evil of the land and speak evil of their leaders. Let me tell you Cross Riverians what you do not appreciate will depreciate.

“I Have battled with this in my state and thank God we are gradually coming out of it. When we were growing up and we came out as a child, our parents only showed us our enemies and said thus be careful of our enemies. Our parents never showed us our friends and we have transferred this from generation to generation and this is the history for the poverty in the land.

“I do not agree with Nigeria that there is poverty, what you have is an apparent poverty which does not reflect the actual realities. We are in this nation of hatred and wickedness in the land has kept us in perpetual poverty.

“I want to appeal to each one of you that hates this young man to desist from such because why should you hate somebody and God is busy promoting him” Okorocha said.

Also, Okorocha called on Clergymen to desist from cursing the nation and joked that God will use a month to judge them, three weeks for Judges, two weeks for Presidents and only a week for Governors whom he will judge based on “campaign promises and for hunger in the land for which we must take responsibility”.

“Then for traditional rulers who are here today, God will judge you for three days, Commissioners, one day, But you see these my people my people, when they come before the throne of judgment, God will say; forgive them for they don’t know what they are doing.”
