No fewer than 3 youths of Ukorshie community in Obudu local government area of northern Cross River State are currently receiving treatment after been shot by their kinsmen CrossRiverWatch authoritatively reports.
The trio (unnamed) were attacked by the children of one Ukandi Agabi in Ukorshie which is located some 20 kilometers (km) away from Obudu urban after they visited the residence of Agabi, alongside their colleagues over the death of one Hon. Canice Izabi sources told our correspondent.
Obudu is located 300km north of Calabar, the Cross River State capital and has witnessed an upsurge in crime ranging from kidnapping to armed robbery, petty thievery and gangstarism in the past two years.
The said Canice, a former council legislator representing Angiaba/Begiaka ward is said to have died under mysterious circumstances, after a brief illness, prompting an emergency village assembly and consultations with deities.
Ukandi Agabi was afterwards accused of killing Hon. Canice with the aid of witchcraft powers.
As at the time of going to press, it was still unclear whether the youths had mobilized to storm Ukandi Agabi’s residence to interrogate or seize him with sources only confirming that the children of the said Agabi had revolted and raised arms with which they shot 3 youths who are currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed facility.
CrossRiverWatch gathered the Police in Obudu were alerted and despite rushing to the scene on record time, did not make any arrest. A second and third visit by the Police did not yield any arrest either reports our correspondent.
The Police could not be reached for official comments as at the time of filing this report.
