The King of Calabar South and Paramount Ruler of the Efut Nation, His Royal Majesty, Muri Munene, Effiong Mbukpa has lauded the Cross River State Government for relocating Operation Skolombo to Calabar South as a means of effectively curbing crime in the area and the State at large.
His Royal Majesty Effiong Mbukpa gave the commendation recently while speaking to our reporter stating that, “The act of relocating Operation Skolombo to Calabar South I strongly believe is a step towards achieving major success in the security area of the State”.
Speaking on other measures to adopt in controlling the security situation in Calabar South, the King suggested: “The State Government in addition to the moving of Operation Skolombo headquarters to my area, other developmental projects should be situated here to boost economic activities which will in turn reduce dependence on crime”.
Continuing, he hinted that: “Also I would like to draw the attention of Government that we have intelligence report that bunkering has started again in Calabar South and it’s done with impunity, something should please be done”.
His Royal Majesty went on to decry that, “A key element to opening Calabar South is to have good town planning and good road network but as we speak the worst roads in the State capital are in Calabar South. The East-West road that is to pass through here, no one is aware of the true state of the project”.
Furthermore, he solicited that, “The Ayade led administration should ensure that the East-West road project has not been swept under the carpet because it will help open up Calabar South properly as it will link it directly to other States”.
Concluding, the Muri Munene said, “I align myself with the argument that says you (Ayade) is one of the best Governors as it stand today”.
