The All Progressives Congress in Cross River State (APC) has berated the proposed logo change by the Cross River State Government saying it does not reflect the true identity of the state.

The APC in a statement issued by its spokesperson and publicity secretary, Mens Ikpeme Tuesday morning described the logo as “stolen” and “insultive” with “The most shameful aspect of his (Governor Ben Ayade) poor decision is his dictatorship tendencies in handling state matters.”

“His choice of only informing the State Executive councils points to his cluelessness in governance,” the statement read and pointed out that; “Ayade’s choice of red color shows how dangerous his intent is. His choice of a charging bull shows how timid the Governor could be. His Red Bull branding is aimed at destroying our cross language cultures and this is crudely counterproductive.”

It continued: “The point must be made clear. Governor Ayade put up a logo that lacks merit. In fact, the Red Bull crescent are among the worst-recognized symbols in the world.”

The party said that it frowned on the new logo and called for the old one to be maintained.

“Our blue and white logo is the central element of our dignified identification system that must remain functionally extended to all line of communications in the state. Due to the simplicity and boldness of its design, it is advisable that our Cross River State logo remain forever.

“The Cross River State logo of three equal horizontal stripes of equal blue, white and blue is our symbol of unity. It says a lot about the preservation of our culture, our essential values as a people and our state, these are the qualities that distinguished us and who we are; proud, great people of Cross River State, irrepressible in spirits a people that are second to none in the world.

“This has been the vision of our founding fathers for our dear beloved Cross River State which clearly is not subordinate to any other interest. The visual simplicity and conceptual clarity marks the hallmark of our state,” the statement read.

Also, the party described Governor Ayade’s effort “to tamper with our state logo/flag or launch a falsified emblem is openly fraudulent, red exemplifies a poor emblem that does not reflect our cultures and values.

“APC as a party views the decision to launch a stolen Red Bull emblem as not only insultive, but abusive to the people of the State.”
