A two days ‘Conflict Assessment’ workshop has just been completed by members of Partners for Peace (P4P) Cross River State chapter.
Speaking on the rationale behind the training, the Partners for Peace Team Lead, Barrister Nkasi Wodu said: “This training is aimed at further improving our members’ capacity in areas of conflict analysis which is a crux in restoring peace”.
Delivering his paper, the Team Lead defined conflict analysis as a systematic study of a conflict dynamics, profile, actors as well as resilience factors to proffer solution.
According to him, conflict differs and in most cases is not static but dynamic, stating that the process of identifying a problem, analyzing the problem, formation of action plan and intervention can be referred to as conflict analysis.
The second resource person, Mr. Afeno Super Research Coordinator, Integrated Peace and Development Unit (IPDU) Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND), funders of P4P across the Niger Delta States in Nigeria, said while speaking to CrossRiverWatch that intensified training became necessary as a result of the increasing rate of crisis and other violent acts.
According to him the training will help keep the State members abreast of modern trends in conflict analysis to be able play effective roles as peace actors.
A cross section of the trainees who spoke to our reporter said the training was worth the while as it has increased their insight into crisis management.
