The Enyimba international football club of Aba Wednesday in Calabar, the Cross River State capital beat El-Kanemi warriors 4-0 in week 26 of the Nigeria Professional Football League.
This is the highest win margin recorded in the season for the seven time league champions who currently play home games at the U.J Esuene stadium in Calabar due to renovation works at their home ground in Aba.
This is one of the People’s Elephant biggest wins in recent years after goals from Bartholomew Ibenegbu and Stephen Chukwude sandwiched Chinonso Okonkwo’s brace.
Ibenegbu opened the scoring for the Elephants just before the half time whistle with Okonkwo adding a second from 25 yards out two minutes into the second half to kill the game as a contest.
Okonkwo got his brace 13 minutes later in the 60th minute before a foul on him by El-Kanemi’s Efe Yarhere, who was given his marching orders by the referee reduced his impact on the game.
Yarhere’s red card left the Warriors susceptible and Enyimba capitalized on the numerical advantage when on the 87th minute, Chukwude scored the fourth goal of the game.
