The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Young Lawyers Forum, Cross River State chapter has strongly condemned the recent spate of killings in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.
It also condemned the recent violence and heinous crimes that have characterized the hitherto peaceful and hospitable city of Calabar, especially the recent attack on the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Affairs, Prince Goodwill Edward by unknown gunmen on the 5th of July 2017.

The statement signed by the Chairman of the Forum, Barrister Enomey Ametey and Secretary, Barrister Daniel Kip read in part: “While we sympathize with Prince Goodwill Osim Edward, and wish him speedy recovery, and commend the security and law enforcement agencies, for their efforts towards curbing these menace, we enjoin the various agencies to redouble their efforts and ensure that the perpetrators of such an act against a law abiding citizen of the State are brought to the punitive embrace of the law, as well as protect the lives and properties of Cross Riverians”.
The Young Lawyers Forum, said they are willing to support the security and law enforcement agencies to achieve this while admonishing the peace loving people of Cross River State to report every suspicious act and disclose any relevant and viable information that will lead to the apprehension of these criminals who are causing unrest in the State and our dear city of Calabar.
The body further called on the State Government to take the bull by the horn, by protecting the lives and properties of it citizens, being one of the core responsibilities of government, and ensure that these barbaric acts are brought to the minutest minimum, if not totally extricated.
